fall flower styling & trends
Discover our favorite flower styling trends this fall and how you can recreate them inside this month's blog.
FIRST: LIST OUT FLOWER DESIGNS YOU WILL CREATE
The first step in creating a well styled bouquet or arrangement is selecting your flower stock. Texture, color, mood, and season all play a part in the planning process. Below are the first few steps in the flower collection planning process.
For weddings you'll list personals, ceremony arrangements, and reception arrangements, etc. For parties you may organize your list by foyer/entrance design, cocktail tables, bar tables, etc. Once you have your list organized into 3-4 parts, list specifically what you will create under that list section.
For Example Personals:~Bride bouquet + Toss bouquet
~Bride's maid bouquet
~Groom Boutonniere + Groomsmen boutonniere
SECOND: DECIDE ON THE STYLE/DESIRED LOOK/FEEL OF THE COLLECTION
For fall weddings and events, you'll want a look that is more dense and rich in tones. Think jewel toned colors or rustic bushels of flowers/foliage. For spring/summer weddings and events, you'll go for a more light and airy style. Color palates can go anywhere from pastels, blushes, neutrals, muted, whatever your heart desires. Pick one and stay within that color/tone family.
THIRD: CREATE YOUR FLOWER AND FOLIAGE COLLECTION
Choose your inspiration and plan your flower collection by flower/foliage grouping.
Select your focal flowers, accent flowers, and filler flowers.
Keep in mind the look you are going for. Light and airy, bold and dense, etc. Feminine vs. masculine. Modern or traditional.
Flower styling begins with the blooms. Consider the linens, the vessels, vases, and candles. Keep in mind that you are looking for a cohesive look. The collection should feel like a collection. When guests arrive the centerpieces should compliment the foyer decor, etc. For advise and flower styling resources sign up below.
